The Aftermath

Hey, we don't look that bad considering the hilly course.

Do we?

The Run (in Detail)

Woke early - about 6, but stayed in bed until 7.
Two weetabix a coffee then drove to Mansfield - I just followed Vince as he was picking some others up.

Started the run with Debs and Chris.
First couple of miles were a bit fast but OK - I then settled down and decided to go for a 2hr pace.

Debs was doing her own thing - Chris was running with me.
It was fine, he ran at a nice pace, we had a good chat. He wanted to run up some of the early hill a bit fast for my liking but kept on 2hr pace steadily enough.

Unfortunately at about 7-8 miles he got a stitch, we slowed for a bit then he waved me on.

I kept going well until about 11-12 mile mark when a few of the smaller hills really took it out of me.

The last 800 metres or so were on the flat and if I could have done a sprint finish I may have slipped under 2hrs.
But sure what the hell, I jogged in looking for my brother and my boy, saw them, posed for pictures and jogged over the line in 2hrs 1min 38secs.

Both Chris and Debs beat their times from last year.

But believe me when I say that was a hard, hilly, half marathon course.

Next year?
Well who knows, I suppose I should really do it in under 2hrs.
